The trail and channel itself is very exposed to sun, wear sunscreen; you'll get hot quickly during the summer.
Well taken care of park and very clean. Lots of fishing options. Nice hiking trails. Worth a stop again!
Awesome and quiet bike and walking path along the canal. Wife and I had an awesome peaceful bike ride along the canal. Path was very peaceful and not busy at all, we passed maybe 5 people the entire ride. Awesome place and we will be back :)
This is a good location for walking, fishing and there is a visitors center here. It has a playground for the younger kids. The bathrooms are well maintained even for outhouses. There is a shelter with a built in grill and plenty of picnic tables. Always enjoy visiting this location to see the flowers and numerous critters that thrive here.
Nice place to take a walk, do some fishing, and just relax. It would be nice if there were grills at all the Pavillion as there was a party going on at the main one and we could not grill our food and had to leave early. Other then that a nice place
Did a brief ride to check it out. Will return. Looks good for an autumn ride.
Pretty along the canal but maintenance along the bike trail was not as good as could be - large weeds blocked views and some tree branches blocking parts of the trail
Information signs were also lacking or in need of repair. State of Illinois needs to try harder.
Very lovely park. We stopped in as a rest stop on a cross country trip. We got out to stretch our legs. They have a lovely museum too!
Don't forget your state park stamps!
Went there on a Thursday afternoon 6/30/22. Beautiful day and well kept park. Very informative exhibits in the visitor center.
